So the bond didn't pass. Well how did they manage the schools before? Sounds like an excuse to close smaller schools. It's not like any money before was really used to help the small schools. Kids deserve a good education and should not be punished over some bond that didn't pass! It's unfair to the average child to be put in a split class, but how about those with special needs? Did anyone even consider those children? Did anyone realize that what they learn in the first years of their education will determine how well they manage through out the rest of their school years in education? All the talk about putting children first and their education, what a joke! This would not be happening if our children were put first and if their education really mattered! There would be money, if they stopped catering to specific schools and treated the smaller schools equal!

This is rediculous !!!!! how can the kids get a good education? combining classes is not going to work what about the classes that have a child whom needs special attention? how is having 2 grades together going to help. It is going to be harder on those kids to learn. And the thought of trying to close Harman school. Yeah ok, they do this and they are going to have to transport kids over 3 mountains in all condition weather and the kids will have to catch the buses at 5am to get to classes on time for the high school and then what are they going to run another run for the elementary? I doubt it so what are they going to do about that? have the elementary riding the buses for 3hrs. This is totally stupid.

I can see a 3/4 or 4/5 split, but really? Kindergarten, first, AND second? How developmentally different are kindergarten students and second graders? Making lessons relevant for three different grades? Ridiculous. I question they're going to get a quality education unless there are only one or two students per grade.

This is perhaps the first step in closing the Harman and Valley Head schools and busing those students elsewhere ... the welfare of students went out the window with consolidation!

Children are the foundation of our future. For them to succeed in life, they must first receive a quality education. How are children suppose to get the education they deserve by combining classes? I feel the BOE doesn't have children's education set as the most important matter. I also feel that the smaller schools are always the target when cuts need to be made. Why should smaller schools be treated any different then the bigger schools in Randolph County? Seems like there is hardly ever or never cuts made to the bigger schools. It is unfair to cut out things in smaller schools and show favortism to the bigger schools. These kids deserve the best education and deserve to be first above all. They should not have to the one's to suffer because of budget cuts! Children only get one chance to start their education right and be successful, in their early years of education. This will not provide them with what they need to start a good education!
