Capito Votes Against A Tax Increase & For Energy Jobs In West Virginia

WASHINGTON-Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., released the following statement in support of H.R. 3630, the "Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011," which passed with bipartisan support by 234-193.

"Nearly fourteen million of our neighbors are asking 'Where are the jobs?' They're looking for paychecks, not unemployment checks. The jobs are in this bill.

"On top of the 27 other bipartisan jobs bills the House has already sent to the Senate, this bill will put people back to work without adding to the deficit, all while protecting American workers from tax increases scheduled to kick-in only days after the Holiday season.

"This legislation is fully paid for with commonsense spending cuts, 90% of which the President supports, and without harming the Social Security trust fund.

"One of the ways we pay for this legislation while protecting Seniors and their Social Security checks, is by reducing subsidies for the wealthy. On top of protecting Seniors currently receiving Social Security, this bill seeks to eliminate waste and abuse in order to alleviate the crushing burden of debt on future generations.

"This legislation also approves the Keystone energy pipeline and blocks the EPA's jobs destroying boiler MACT regulation. For a state like West Virginia which has been bearing the brunt of an over-active EPA, creating jobs in the energy sector is vital."
