Ruth Louise McCollam Phillips, 85, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family. She had been in declining health.
She was born Wednesday, April 6, 1927, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Blaine and Fannie Currence McCollam.
On Sept. 19, 1961, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Richard Dale Phillips, who preceded her in death April 4, 2011. They had celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Surviving are one daughter, Vicki Ann Ratliff of Mill Creek; two brothers, Ronald McCollam of Mabie and Thomas McCollam of Mill Creek; one sister, Georgia Scott of Mill Creek; three grandchildren, Zachary Adam Cain, Jeff Ratliff and Missy Ratliff; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Ratliff and Kayla Latham; one great-great-grandson, Aiden Guy Latham; two nieces, Linda Shultz and Geraldine Layman; and one nephew, David Adams, all of Morgantown.
Preceding her in death was one daughter, Bobbie Gum.
She attended Tygarts Valley High School, was a homemaker and a member of Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church. Louise enjoyed many years of camping along with her husband, Richard, especially on Skyline Drive.
Graveside services will be conducted in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville Friday, Oct. 12, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Bill Calhoun will officiate, and interment will follow.
