It's that time of year again when Legionaries try to help the community. American Legion Post 29 will accept applications for the Christmas turkey dinner beginning Wednesday and ending Dec. 10. There will be no applications given out or accepted after the close of business hours Dec. 10.
In order to qualify for this gift people must bring in two proofs of residency, (i.e. rental agreement, gas bill or electric bill) and all proofs of income (i.e. SSI, SS, food stamps, etc.). Applications will be filled out in the office.
Your application does not guarantee that you will receive a dinner. When and if you receive a letter from Post 29, on the day of pick up, you must bring your letter and envelope and ID with you. Without it you will not received the dinner.
The baskets will be given out Dec. 22 from 8 a.m. until noon. Baskets not picked up by that time will be given to someone else. Baskets can be held that day for those working and with prior approval.
