Wesleyan cagers tumble to No. 1 ’Toppers, 94-56

WEST?LIBERTY?- Wesleyan dropped a 94-56 decision against top-ranked West Liberty Tuesday in WVIAC action.

The Bobcats stayed within striking distance early, trailing 36-23 at the half. But the Hilltoppers exploded in the second half, accumulating 58 points after intermission to pull away.

West Liberty shot 51.4 percent on the night, while holding Wesleyan to 29.2 percent from the field.

The Hilltoppers also recorded a 50-34 advantage in team rebounding. Alex Falk led five Hilltoppers in double figures with 20 points.

T.J. Thompson led Wesleyan with 13 points, followed by Noah Cottrill with 12. Kelsey Williams was the top rebounder with a team- high seven boards.

The Bobcats fall to 1-1 with the defeat and will host California (Pa.) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

West Liberty took a hard- fought 76-72 victory over Wesleyan Tuesday in WVC?action.

The Lady Hilltoppers produced an 11-point halftime lead at 39-28, but the Lady Bobcats rallied to almost materialize a comeback road win.

Freshman Allie Browne led Wesleyan with 22 points, including four 3-point field goals. Atavia Blaek added 20 points and six rebounds, while Brittany Maxey had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Liz Flowers led West Liberty with 20 points, followed by Meghan Wiseman with 19.

West Liberty improves to 3-2, while Wesleyan falls to 1-2.

The Lady Bobcats will entertain Fayetteville State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
