Boos and Applause for Nov. 24

November 24, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

- Applause to the city of Elkins and the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA for treating the community to a belated but well-received Halloween party. Annual trick-or-treat nights were canceled because of the aftereffects of Superstorm Sandy, but the city and the YMCA united to produce a night of spooky fun, including a bounty of sugary treats, face painting and a haunted house. The Inter-Mountain was proud to be a part of the event by donating candy and other items for the kids' treat bags. Thanks to city and YMCA officials, children in Randolph County still were able to enjoy the traditions and fun of Halloween, especially after going through such a taxing time dealing with the storm's aftermath.
