Creed Simons II

Creed Sylvanus Simons II, 69, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at his home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice of Buckhannon.

He was born May 20, 1943, at Clarksburg, a son of the late Creed Sylvanus and Birtise Lillian Gould Simons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Leslie and Edna Simons; and one brother, Richard Simons.

He is survived by niece, Breanna Poling of Buckhannon and several other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Simons was a nurse's aide at Weston State Hospital in Weston. He was a Christian by faith, a volunteer for the Troop 128 as an assistant scout master. He was a foster grandparent Region 7 and an Upshur County Head Start volunteer. He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed all over the world.

Friends will be received Saturday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and Disabled American Veterans Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors at the funeral home.
