By Andrew Davis Staff Writer , The Inter-Mountain

The Elkins High School wrestling team will open up their season on Wednesday at home hosting a tri-match at 6 p.m.

The two other teams attending the match are Lewis County and Buckhannon-Upshur.

Elkins returns two starters from last season: Tyson Currence (180) and Aaron Nelan (138).

The Tigers also return Chris Clarkson (220), Jerrick Reams (182) and Hunter Shipp (145) from last season.

"We're expecting big things out of these five wrestlers," Elkins coach Chris Hamrick said. "They all return with experience, which is nice."

The Tigers have two new juniors on the team, Jared Butcher (170) and Jonathan Streets (152).

Elkins will also have five new freshmen, including Anthony Haden (126), Shane Mallow (195), Tyler Reed (106), Alex Taylor (145) and Devon Young (132).

"I?think the two juniors will help us this season," Hamrick said.

"We also have a good group of freshmen and they have a bright future ahead of them."

"I think we will fill all the weight classes this year," Hamrick said. "Practices have been going well. They also have been working hard and hopefully it will be paying off at the end of the season."

Elkins will have three other home meets during the regular season and will also take part in several tournaments.
