Tucker County falls to Preston in opener

MONTEREY, Va. - Brandon Pritt tossed in 16 points to lead Tygarts Valley past Highland County (Va.) 72-24 Thursday in non-conference action.

Brett Griffith followed with 15 points, while Zak Shreve contributed nine points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (1-0), who led 45-10 at halftime and 61-14 after three quarters. Timmy Sparks added seven rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Luke Jones and Brett Will had seven points each for the Rams.

Tygarts Valley will visit Harman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a Potomac Valley Conference game.

Preston 60, Tucker County 47

HAMBLETON?- Preston placed three players in double figures to defeat Tucker County 60-47 Thursday in non-conference action.

Jimmy Galusky finished with a team-high 19 points to lead the Knights (1-0), who led 36-23 at halftime and 47-32 after three quarters of play.

Mitchell Koch added 15 points and Tyler Groves followed with 13 points for Preston.

Tyler Snyder finished with 16 points, while Ian Nichols added 10 points for the Mountain Lions (0-1).

"We didn't shoot the ball well tonight,"?Tucker County coach Tom?Gutshall said. "When you shoot 25 percent from the floor you can't win many games."

Tucker County will visit Notre Dame on Monday.
