Mr. James Edgar Miller, 79, a resident of Junior, departed this life Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2012, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected.

He was born March 9, 1933, at West Jefferson, N.C., a son of the late Adolphus Bradley and Laura Effie Jones Miller.

On Nov. 16, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Joann Katherine Shomo, who survives at their home.

He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Ash and husband, Donnie, of Junior, Penny Skidmore of Junior and Wanda Miller Burns of North Carolina; and grandchildren, Jessica Skidmore and companion, Barb, of Junior, Tommy Ash and wife, Evelyn, of New York, Timmy Ash and wife, Rachel, of Cassity, Beth Ann St. Vincent of Nashville, Tenn., David Burns and Robby Burns; 14 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include two brothers, Smith Miller of Virginia, and Bruce Miller of Maryland.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Jones, Rosie Mitzel, Barb Miller, John Miller, Clyde Miller and Bob Miller.

Mr. Miller attended the schools in North Carolina and was formerly employed at Brooks Enterprise as a timber sawyer in Rising Sun of Md. He enjoyed wood working, gardening and small engine repair. He was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed his canine companions. He was a member of Weaver Church of the Nazarene.

At the request of the deceased, his remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Interment of his cremains will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery near Junior.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be given to the Weaver Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 122, Junior, WV 26275.
