Cal (Pa.) holds off Lady Senators, 60-55

CALIFORNIA (Pa.) - Ryan Gadson had 14 points to lead California (Pa.)?past Davis & Elkins 60-55 Sunday in non-conference action.

Emma Mahady followed with 11 points for the Lady Vulcans, (7-2), who led 38-24 at halftime.

Jorden Lykes finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Alicia Lentz chipped in with 12 points for the Lady Senators (4-5).

Sharmaine Baker had 10 points for Davis & Elkins.

Davis & Elkins will host West Liberty on Thursday for a WVIAC matchup at 5:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Tygarts Valley 53, South Harrison 19

LOST?CREEK?- Shanda Howell had 17 points and dished out six assists to lead Tygarts Valley past South?Harrison 53-19 Friday in non-conference action.

Kelsey Arbogast and Paige Pritt had 10 points each for the Lady Bulldogs (6-2), who led 32-11 at halftime and 46-17 after three quarters of play.

Ashleigh Brusous had eight points to lead the Lady Hawks.

Tygarts Valley will host Moorefield on Friday for a PVC matchup.

Elkins 49,

Philip?Barbour 34

SHINNSTON?- Charlie George had 13 points to lead Elkins past Philip?Barbour 49-34 Friday in the Lincoln Holiday Tournament.

Brianna Swecker and Logan Dudley had eight points each for the Lady Tigers (3-5), who led 24-15 at halftime and 39-27 after three quarters of play.

Dudley also had eight rebounds for Elkins.

"I thought we rebounded the ball well," Elkins coach Nancy Lewis said. "I also thought defensively we played well as a team."

Kaitlynne Neville finished with 10 points, while Marissa Carey had nine points for the Lady Colts.

Philip Barbour will travel to Tucker County on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup.

Elkins will visit Lewis County on Friday for a Big 10 Conference matchup.

Boys Basketball

Elkins 56,

Ripley 50

WESTON?- Logan Phillips recorded a double-double to lead Elkins past Ripley 56-50 Friday in the Lewis County Holiday Classic.

Phillips finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds for Elkins.

Colby Gainer added 10 points, while L.J. Lawrence had nine points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Tigers (7-0), who led 25-16 at halftime and 35-30 after three quarters of play.

Brandon Roth added eight points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.

Casey Smith finished with 14 points for Ripley.

"I thought we controlled the tempo of the game and played well defensively," Elkins coach John Lawson said. "Offensively we're getting better each game."

Elkins will host Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
