Lady Bulldogs get past Moorefield

MOOREFIELD - Paige Pritt had a team-high 14 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead Tygarts Valley past Moorefield 45-37 Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Shanda Howell followed with 12 points and five assists for the Lady Bulldogs (9-4, 5-2 PVC).

Beth Cook had 13 points, while Tara George added 11 points for the Lady Yellow Jackets (6-6).

Tygarts Valley will host Harman at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Moorefield will entertain Pocahontas County at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Pendleton 50, Petersburg 48

FRANKLIN - Hillary Ord's 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted Pendleton County past Petersburg 50-48 Wednesday in non-conference action.

Raven Turner had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Wildcats (6-5). Ord followed with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Brittani Bible had 24 points, while Megan Cook added 10 points for the Lady Vikings, who led 25-10 at halftime and 37-34 after three quarters.

Petersburg will host Mountain Ridge (Md.) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Pendleton County will entertain Highland County (Va.) at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Middle School Basketball

EMS boys sweep BMS

The Elkins Middle School boys basketball team swept a pair of games from Belington Wednesday night.

The Hornets (8-4) won the varsity contest, 58-26.

Dalton Hamrick had 15 points, while Blake Loftis chipped in with 10 points for Elkins.

Hunter Everson had 11 points to lead Belington.

Elkins (8-4) won the junior varsity contest, 39-27.

Garrett Smyton had seven points, while Elliot White and Zach Shreve had six points each for Elkins.

Ryan Kittle finished with 15 points for Belington.

Elkins will host Mannington at 6 p.m. Friday.

TV bests Philippi

MILL CREEK - The Tygarts Valley Middle School boys basketball team swept a pair of games from Philippi Wednesday night.

Tygarts Valley (8-3) won the varsity contest, 57-45.

Caleb Riggleman had 16 points, while Zac McCauley added 14 points and Jace Stanley 13.

Austin Upton finished with 20 points to lead Philippi.

Tygarts Valley (5-5) won the junior varsity contest, 37-32.

Jake Tackett had 10 points, while Austin Lanham had seven points for TVMS.

Joseph Mayle had 12 points and Brady Price eight points for Philippi.

Tygarts Valley will visit Belington at 6 p.m. today.

Girls

EMS, Belington split tilts

BELINGTON - The Elkins Middle School girls basketball team split a pair of games with Belington Wednesday night.

Belington won the varsity contest, 40-28.

Maddi Carpenter had 11 points, while Carmen Cline had 10 points for Belington.

Elkins won the junior varsity contest, 24-8.

Kaci Zopp had six points and five rebounds for the Hornets.

Susan Riggleman, Taylor Maynard and Sydney Oldaker had four points each for EMS.

Harley Arbogast had three points for the Hawks.

Elkins will travel to Mannington at 6 p.m. Friday.
