January 23, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

SEVEN SPRINGS, Pa. Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania's premiere four season resort, is honored to host the 2013 Burton U.S. Open Qualifiers and the U.S. Revolution Tour, Feb. 1-7.

This dual event, in partnership with Burton Snowboards, U.S. Snowboarding and MINI, will bring the country's best amateur skiers and snowboarders one step closer to competing at the U.S. Open in Vail and possibly on to the Olympic Trials. Athletes will compete in halfpipe, slopestyle and cross for both freeskiing and snowboarding.

"Hosting the U.S. Open Qualifiers and the U.S. Revolution Tour presents an opportunity for Seven Springs to showcase our mountain, our region, our team, and our dedication to the growth and development skiing and snowboarding. It's awesome to think that the next Shaun White, Gretchen Bleiler, Kristi Leskinen or Tom Wallisch could earn their stripes here at Seven Springs," said Anna Weltz, Seven Springs Communications Manager.

At the conclusion of U.S. Open Qualifiers, the top five women and top 10 men in each discipline will earn a spot to move on to the semi-finals at the prestigious U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships, taking place at Vail Mountain from Feb. 25-March 2. In addition to scoring a spot at the U.S. Open in Vail, top placing riders will earn a piece of a $20,000 prize purse, 4Star World Snowboard Tour points and U.S. Revolution Tour points.

Finally, guests at Seven Springs will have no shortage of excitement during the U.S. Open Qualifiers weekend. In addition to watching the competition, guests can also enjoy the Burton Mountain Festival, which offers riders a full day of on-snow activities, including Burton 2013 product demos, live music, sponsor giveaways and a traveling terrain park designed for the smallest snowboarders.
