Push to Start will present an eclectic mix of bluegrass, folk and jazz music at the Buckey House in Beverly at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The band consists of Ed Bowes, who has played with bluegrass and jazz groups in the Richmond, Va. area for many years, and Trish Kleckner, an Elkins native and long time resident of Beverly. They now divide their time between Richmond and Beverly and are engaged to be married this summer. As two-fifths of the Grey Eagle Band, Bowes and Kleckner performed a concert for the Beverly Heritage Days celebration this past summer. They will be joined by George Stump, an excellent multi-instrumentalist from Monterey, Va.
Their material comes from a wide variety of sources including several original tunes. They usually play around the Richmond area, but are very glad to have a chance to play in Beverly, where Kleckner still has a home. One of the tunes they will be playing is "The Beverly Waltz" written by Bowes to reflect Beverly's rich history. Bowes has recently completed a CD of original tunes with bluegrass, jazz and new age influences, which will be available at the concert.
The house concert will feature an evening of music with food being served at intermission. The Buckey House is located at 10 Main St. in downtown Historic Beverly, just south of the Beverly Marathon. There is an admission charge.
