Beatrice Spittler

Beatrice "Bea" Spittler, 84, of Valley Bend, formerly of Pickens, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at home.

She was born June 11, 1928, at Webster Springs, a daughter of the late Charles Wade and Vesta Virginia Cogar Tiffner.

Bea was united in marriage, on Sept. 7, 1946, to Oral O. "Tobe" Spittler, who preceded her in death Jan. 16, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Rodrick Wayne Spittler and Otis Paul "Buddy" Spittler; two grandsons, Roy Steven Conrad and Kenneth Keith Spittler; sister, Lenore "Nora" Bachman; brother, Gary Tiffner, and two brothers-in-law, Charles Kelley and Dennis Bachman.

Bea is survived by six children, Larry Edwin Spittler of Valley Bend, Nancy Mae McGinn and husband, Robert, of Salem, Kenneth Oran Spittler of Kevil, Ky., John Daniel "Danny" Spittler and wife, Sharon, of Miller, Md., Goldie Ann Barnes of Valley Bend and Dennis Keith Spittler of Buckhannon; daughter-in-law, Cindy Spittler of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sisters and brothers, Gatha Bachman of Kentucky, James "Sonny" Tiffner and wife, Connie, of Pickens, Virginia Jackson of Indiana, Regina Kelley of Buckhannon, Robert Tiffner and wife, Barbara, of Alabama, Roger Tiffner of Adrian, Wanda Sue Haddix and husband, Mike, of Pickens and Charlene Duke and husband, Jim, of Buckhannon.

Mrs. Spittler was a homemaker and was a member of the Tygart Valley Baptist Church in Beverly.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel in Buckhannon where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Jack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Pickens Cemetery.
