Mr. Clarence Clyde Epison Wood, 95, a resident of Mingo, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 16, 1917, at Mingo, a son of the late Norval and Viva Kisamore Wood.
He was married three times, first to LaVera Shreve Wood, second to Olieva "Pat" Fuell Wood and last to Della Brady Wood, all of whom preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Wood of Clayton, N.C., who provided care for Mr. Wood for the past year, and Roger Wood and wife, Jeanenne, of Akron, Ohio. Also surviving are one stepson, Bennie Furr and wife, Leona, of Rockbridge Bath, Va.; two stepdaughters, Betty Furr Jones of Elyria, Ohio, and Ethel Furr Knoll of Michigan; one brother, Clark Kelly Wood and wife, Helen, of Barberton, Ohio; two sisters, Bertha Allman and husband, Maurice, of Philippi and Virginia Conrad and husband, Keith, of Lake Charles, La.; a sister-in-law, Addie Wood of Romney; and six grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Roy Archie Wood; two brothers, Hubert and Alfred Wood; and one sister, Mamie Mae Wood.
Mr. Wood was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and was employed by Hylton Farms at the time of his retirement. He was a member of Mingo Presbyterian Church.
Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Saturday, Feb. 16, he will be moved to Mingo Presbyterian Church for visitation from 10 until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley and the Rev. David L. Rice will officiate, and interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery.
