Charles Oliver Lansberry Jr., 80, of Thomas, died Feb. 19, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Sept. 24, 1932, at Pierce, a son of the late Charles Oliver Lansberry Sr. and Viola Mae Biggs Lansberry.
He is survived by one son, William (Mia) Lansberry of Oakland, Md.; one daughter, Debra (Peter) Huebner of Owings, Md.; three brothers, Jimmy Lansberry of Durham, N.C., Ronald Lansberry of Seoul, Korea, and Dennis Lansberry of Parsons; one sister, Doris Pack of Lexington, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Chaz Lansberry, Cole Lansberry, Bryan, Lansberry and Logan Alderman.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Edwin and John Wesley Lansberry.
Mr. Lansberry was a U.S. Navy veteran. He served during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Palau CVE-122 as a member of the Florida Group/Atlantic Reserve Fleet. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was quite a storyteller.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home today from 1 to 3 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. William McAllister will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
