Senators split pair with Cardinals

CHARLESTON - The Davis & Elkins College baseball team split a pair of games with Wheeling?Jesuit Thursday in West Virginia Conference action.

The Senators (11-1, 7-6 WVIAC) won the first game 11-4 and dropped the second game, 12-4.

Marcus Warner notched the win for Davis & Elkins in Game 1 in six innings of work.

He gave up four runs on four hits, walked one and struck out three.

Christian Scott pitched one inning of relief, giving up two walks on one hit.

Treavor Dubiel had three hits, three RBIs and a home run, while Matt Barr and Bryant Hines had two hits each for the Senators.

Lance VanNoy added a three-run triple for Davis & Elkins.

Michael Paratore took the loss in ?the second game in two innings of work.

Ryan Butts had two hits and two RBIs, while Dubiel and Kyle Crist had two hits each for the Senators.

"I thought we played well for 11 innings today," Davis & Elkins coach Ron Palmer said. "The first three innings in the second game we didn't play well."

Davis & Elkins will play West Virginia State at 1 p.m. today in a WVIAC matchup at the University of Charleston.

Petersburg sweeps Tucker

PETERSBURG - Petersburg swept a pair of games with Tucker County Thursday in non-conference action.

The Vikings (6-1) won the first 16-0 and took the second game, 10-0.

Ryan Hedrick notched the win in Game 1 in five innings of work.

Hedrick gave up no runs on three hits, walked one and struck out 10.

Brian George had three hits and three RBIs, while Justin Smith had two hits for Petersburg.

Jeriah Joseph took the loss for the Mountain Lions in three innings of work.

Joseph, Kevin McDermott and Dusty Conrad had the hits for Tucker County.

Tyler Rhodes notched the win in the second game in six shutout innings. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out 10.

Ryan Colaw had two hits to lead the Vikings in the second game.

Jace Shanholtz, Brandon Ours and C.J. Landis all hits for Petersburg.

Conrad took the loss for Tucker County in the second game in three innings of work.

Petersburg defeated Pendleton County 3-2 in its first game Thursday.

Brian George notched the win in three innings or relief.

Alex See had a RBI single for the Vikings.

Ryan Hedrick, Justin Smith and Doug Lambert had hits for the Vikings.

Timmy Hevener took the loss for the Wildcats in three innings of work.

Daniel Hevener had a RBI single for Pendleton?County.

Petersburg will host Keyser at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a doubleheader .

Pendleton County will entertain Paw Paw Saturday at noon for a noon double-header.

Tucker County will host Union at 5 p.m. Monday.
