Elkins tames Senior

FAIRMONT - Amy Fincham drove in six runs to lead Elkins past Fairmont Senior 25-6 Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Fincham also had three hits and scored three runs for the Lady Tigers (1-0), who had 17 hits as a team.

Madison Collett and Michaela Lewis-Lambert chipped in two hits each and three RBIs each for Elkins, while Lindsay Silvester knocked in a pair of runs and Amber Marstiller had a two-run double.

Lewis-Lambert notched the win for the Lady Tigers in three innings of work.

She gave up six runs on eight hits, walked zero and struck out four.

Alyssa Harper pitched one inning of relief, striking out one.

"It was nice to finally get out on the field and play," Elkins coach Corrine Palmer said. "I thought we hit the ball well tonight, and hopefully that will continue into our next game."

Elkins will travel to Bridgeport at 5 p.m. today for a league contest.

B-U 10, Lewis County 3

WESTON - Lindsey Wagoner belted a three-run homer to power Buckhannon-Upshur past Lewis County 10-3 Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Brooklyn Waddell added three hits and scored three runs for the Lady Bucs, while Megan Williams added three RBIs.

Williams notched the win for B-U in a complete-game effort. She gave up four hits, three runs, walked one and struck out seven.

Tori Riley had a solo home run for the Minutemaids. She also too the the loss on the mound.

"After an eight-day layoff, it took us several at bats and innings to get back into the flow of playing again," B-U coach Tom Hasbrouck said. "We had a few errors in the first inning and struck out too many times early in the game, but eventually we adjusted to the game and the live pitching."

B-U will host Lincoln today at 4:30 p.m. for a Big 10 Conference matchup.

East Hardy ........ 10

Pendleton County 0

BAKER - Jodi Funkhouser pitched three shutout innings to lead East Hardy past Pendleton County 10-0 Tuesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

The game ended after three innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Funkhouser gave up one hit, walked two and struck out five for the Lady Cougars (3-1).

Funkhouser had two hits and RBI, while Jade Foltz had two hits for East Hardy.

Morgan Mongold had one hit and three RBIs for the Lady Cougars.

Brittany Huffman took the loss for the Lady Wildcats.

Huffman had the lone hit for Pendleton County.

East Hardy will host Berkeley Springs at 5 p.m. Thursday for a doubleheader.

Pendleton County will entertain Bath County (Va.) on the same day for a non-conference tilt at 7 p.m.
