TVHS blanks UHS; Senators sweep OVU

MILL?CREEK - Adam Cassell pitched six shutout innings to lead Tygarts Valley past Union 10-0 Saturday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Cassell gave up four hits, walked one and struck out eight.

Keighan Chewning had three hits and two RBIs, while Owen Arbogast added two hits and RBI for the Bulldogs.

Cassell and Brandon Pritt had one hit each and two RBIs for Tygarts Valley.

Shenandoah Snyder took the loss for the Tigers in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Tygarts Valley travels to Pocahontas County today at 4:30 p.m. for another conference tilt.

High?School?Softball

East Hardy sweeps pair

BAKER - The East Hardy High School softball team swept a pair of games from Elkins on?Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Cougars (7-2) won the first game 12-2 and swept the second game 11-1.

Jodi Funkhouser notched the win in the first game in three innings of work.

Morgan Basye had two hits, including a home run for East Hardy.

Michaela Lewis-Lambert took the loss for the Lady Tigers in three innings of work, while striking out three.

Madison Collett had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly for Elkins (2-4).

Kelsi Trippett had a hit and scored a run, while Amy Fincham had the other run scored for the Lady Tigers.

Funkhouser picked up the win in the second game.

Basye had three hits to lead East Hardy.

Alyssa Harper took the loss for the Lady Tigers while striking out one.

Sara Burky had a double, while Taylor Pingley had an RBI single for Elkins.

East Hardy visits Tucker County today at 4:30 p.m. for a conference matchup.

Elkins travels to?Preston on?Tuesday at 5 p.m.

B-U plays in Invitational

HEDGESVILLE - The Buckhannon-Upshur softball team swept a pair of games Saturday in the Hedgesville Tournament.

The Lady Bucs (7-6) won their first game 9-0 over Martinsburg and swept the nightcap 12-4 over Keyser.

Megan Williams pitched a five-inning no-hitter to lead Buckhannon-Upshur in Game 1.
