Moorefield sweeps Tucker

PARSONS - Moorefield swept Tucker County Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference play.

The Lady Yellow Jackets took the opening game 15-0 and completed the sweep with a 13-0 decision in the nightcap.

Beth Cook tossed a no-hitter for Moorefield in the lidlifter. She struck out six and walked one.

Katelynn Wills went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs for Moorefield, while Brooklin Gilbert went 2-for-3 with a homer and Jayme Fraley 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Bekah Simmons took the loss.

Brooke Riggleman took the win in the second game, allowing no hits, fanning two and walking one.

Cook went 3-for-3 with a homer, Shayna Vetter 2-for-2 with a single and triple and Cheyenne Lender 1-for-1 with a triple for the winners.

Simmons suffered the loss for the Mountain Lions.

East Hardy 8

Petersburg 7

BAKER - Marilyn Cassell had three hits to lead East Hardy past Petersburg 8-7 Wednesday in non-conference action.

Morgan Mongold added two hits, a home run and an RBI, while Rayann Foltz had a two-run single for the Lady Cougars (12-2).

Jodi Funkhouser notched the win for East Hardy in seven innings of work.

She gave up six earned runs on 12 hits, while fanning five.

Katelyn Keplinger took the loss for Petersburg in seven innings on the mound. Keplinger gave up six earned runs on 10 hits, walked three and struck out five.

Marley Thompson had three hits and an RBI, while Brittani Bible had two hits and drove in two runs for Petersburg.

East Hardy will visit Musselman at 4 p.m. today.

Petersburg will entertain Frankfort at 5 p.m. Friday for a Potomac Valley Conference encounter.
