Jackie D. Loftis, 76, a resident of Elkins, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1936, at Sumerco, a son of the late Estil and Marie Estep Loftis.
On April 7, 1960, in Elkins, he was married to Betty Lea Grant Loftis, who preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry Lee Loftis, of Tumon, Guam, Paul Wayne Loftis of Mountain House, Calif., and John David Loftis of Elkins. One brother, Eugene Rose of Florida; two sisters, Norma Loftis Roberts of Sumerco and Brenda Doody of Florida; and five grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lynn Loftis; and one brother, Gerald Loftis.
Jackie was employed as a surveyor for the West Virginia Division of Highways prior to his retirement. He attended First Baptist Church in Elkins.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
