A totally redesigned model for 2013 with ecoboost engines, the Ford Escape is quickly becoming one of the best selling vehicles at Elkins Fordland.

"It's an all-wheel drive vehicle that still get over 30 miles per gallon," dealership owner Jim Jackson said. "It's priced in the mid-20s, and it has everything. It's a vehicle that hits the spot."

The Escape is available in four models, ranging from the "S," which runs about $22,000, to the "Titanium" at around $30,000.

"The Escape is our biggest seller outside of the F-series (trucks)," Jackson said.

Another popular vehicle is the Ford Fusion, which comes in both a hybrid model and an all-wheel drive version. It also features the ecoboost engine. The new C-Max vehicle is also a big seller, a hybrid model that gets up to 47 miles per gallon.

Jackson said the new technology surrounding the engines and powertrains has put gas mileage at a priority, and that technology also has found its way into the car's interior.

What was once believed to be luxuries on many vehicles are quickly become popular additions, if not almost part of the standard package. Back-up cameras, navigation systems and hands-free technology are quickly becoming must-haves for new car purchasers.

"You are able to do all of the controls hands-free," Jackson said.

Jackson said financing deals are making new car deals even more affordable.

He said the values of used vehicles has never been higher, making it easier to purchase a new car. He also said leasing a vehicle is quickly becoming a popular option.

"You can get into a new vehicle for a much lower payment than you think," he said.

Elkins Fordland is located on the Beverly Five-lane, and it also offers a complete service option for Ford vehicles with its state-of-the-art facility, equipment and factory-trained technicians.
