D&E baseball team earns split; Pendleton bests Cougars

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Davis & Elkins split a pair of games with Seton Hill Tuesday in West Virginia Conference action.

The Senators won the first game 8-4 and dropped the second game, 5-2.

Anthony Ragos had two hits and two RBIs to lead D&E in the lidlifter. Matt Moceri added two hits and an RBI, while Lance VanNoy and Matt Barr each had RBI singles.

Mike Paratore notched the win for the Senators in six innings of work. He gave up three earned runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out two.

Marcus Warner took the loss for D&E in the second game in five innings of work. He gave up five runs on nine hits, walked one and struck out two.

Jake Smith pitched one inning of relief. Smith gave up one hit and struck out one.

VanNoy and Treavor Dubiel had two hits each for D&E. Ryan Butts and Kyle Crist added RBIs.

"I thought we competed well today," D&E coach Ron Palmer said.

"It was nice to go on the road and pick up a good victory."

D&E (24-18) will visit rival West Virginia Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday for a doubleheader.

Prep baseball

Pendleton County 15, East Hardy 9

FRANKLIN - Luke Yokum had three hits and drove in four runs to lead Pendleton County past East Hardy 15-9 Tuesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Daniel Hevener added three hits and three RBIs, while Logan Raines chipped in with three hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats (13-7, 9-3 PVC).

Cody Lambert notched the win for Pendleton County in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

Korey Foltz took the loss for East Hardy (12-7) on the mound.

Cole Collier had three hits, including a home run and two RBIs, while Foltz had three hits and an RBI for East Hardy.

Pendleton County will host Webster County at 4:30 p.m. today for a doubleheader, while East Hardy (12-7) will visit Tygarts Valley at 5 p.m. for a PVC tilt.

Clay-Battelle sweeps Tygarts Valley

BLACKSVILLE - Tygarts Valley dropped a pair of games with Clay-Battelle Tuesday in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs lost by scores of 12-8 and 14-1.

P.J. Lanham had two hits, an RBI and scored two runs, while Owen Arbogast, Tyler Louk and Andrew Torress had one hit each and RBI for Tygarts Valley in the opening game.

Brandon Pritt took the loss for the Bulldogs in 5 1/3 innings of work.

P.J. Lanham took the loss for Tygarts Valley in the second game in two innings of work.

The Bulldogs (10-8) will entertain East Hardy at 5 p.m. today for a Potomac Valley Conference contest.

Middle School softball

WESTON - Abby Collett had three hits to lead Elkins past Robert L. Bland 31-2 Tuesday in middle school softball action.

Sydney Leary, Haley Collett and Korri Evans all had two hits each for the Hornets (9-2). Evans had a triple among her hits. Madison Wagner added a double.

Evans notched the win for EMS in one inning of work. Susan Riggleman and Lauren Wilmoth pitched in relief.

Morgan Rowan took the loss for the Patriots.

Tiffany Curtis had the lone hit for RLB.

Elkins will visit Lumberport at 4:30 p.m. today.
