Elkins trips Eagles in Big 10 encounter

Clayton Collett drove in two runs and also homered to lead Elkins past Robert C. Byrd 11-1 Wednesday in five innings in Big 10 Conference action.

Collett also had two hits, two runs scored and a stolen base for the Tigers (10-8).

Kollin Hopwood added a pair of RBIs and Ryan Summerfield a hit and an RBI for Elkins.

Issac Riggleman notched the win for the Tigers in five innings of work.

He gave up one run on one hit, walked two and struck out seven.

Tanner Colley took the loss for the Eagles in 2 1/3 innings of work. He gave up five earned runs on five hits, walked four.

Trevor Downing had the lone hit in a losing effort for RCB

Elkins will visit Lewis County at 7 p.m. today for a Big 10 matchup.

Philip Barbour 13, Grafton 3

GRAFTON - Quentin Mouser and Chance Price had three hits each to lead Philip Barbour past Grafton 13-3 Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Mouser also had a double and drove in four runs for the Colts (4-12).

Price picked up the win for Philip Barbour in seven innings of work. He gave up three runs, six hits, walked one and struck out six.

Philip Barbour will host Preston at 4:30 p.m. today for a doubleheader.

Pendleton County 21, Webster County 8

FRANKLIN - Callum McGrath had three hits and three RBIs to lead Pendleton County past Webster County 21-8 Wednesday in non-conference action.

Luke Yokum, Travis Alt and Jacob Lambert had two hits each and drove in three runs for the Wildcats.

Jesse Lambert had two hits and two RBIs for Pendleton County.

Callum McGrath notched the win for the Wildcats in five innings of work.

He gave up eight runs on eight hits and struck out eight.

Pendleton County (14-7) will travel to Cooperstown N.Y., at 6 p.m. Friday to play Jefferson at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

East Hardy 10,

Tygarts Valley 0

MILL CREEK - Tyler Mongold pitched five innings of scoreless baseball to lead East Hardy past Tygarts Valley 10-0 Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Mongold gave up three hits and struck out seven for the Cougars.

Shawn Skovron had three hits and drove in two runs, while Mongold and Justin Basye had two hits each for East Hardy.

Owen Arbogast took the loss for the Bulldogs (10-9) in five innings of work.

P.J. Lanham, Timmy Sparks and Ryan Hoffman all had hits for TVHS.

East Hardy will visit Union at 4:30 p.m. today for a Potomac Valley Conference matchup.

Tygarts Valley will host Tucker County at 4:30 p.m. Friday in PVC play.

Moorefield 13,

Tucker County 2

MOOREFIELD - Mikey Pultz drove in three runs to power Moorefield to a 13-2 win over Tucker County in five innings Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.,

Jared Kite added two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored and Adam Snyder a pair of hits, an RBI and two run scored for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 16-5.

DeShawn Brown went four innings, striking out three to earn the win.

Mikhail Lewis took the loss for the Mountain Lions in one inning of work.

Moorefield will travel to East Hardy at 7 p.m. Friday for a PVC contest.

Tucker County will entertain Pocahontas County at 4:30 p.m. today for a twin-bill.
