Leaders from Citizens Bank of West Virginia announce they have launched mobile banking, the ultimate on-demand service.

The new mobile banking application allows customers with online banking to access their account information from a mobile phone.

"Citizens Bank embraced the revolution of mobile banking to provide our customers with 'banking on the go' and up-to-minute account information anytime and anywhere they need it," said Kathy Leombruno, senior vice president and marketing officer. "We realize that many of our customers lead busy lives and live a mobile lifestyle. They rely on their cellphones to stay connected, and we're excited to provide technology to make managing their banking and finances so easy."

Mobile Banking is offered through three delivery channels:

Text messaging/short message service (SMS)

Mobile-enabled Internet browser

Mobile banking applications (apps)

SMS-based or text messaging mobile banking enables customers to text Citizens using keywords to check account balances, review recent account activity or find ATM and branch locations.

The mobile browser service allows customers to access their accounts to check balances, review recent account activity, transfer money between accounts, pay bills, change and cancel pending payments, and find ATM and branch locations.

The downloadable app for smartphones and Androids offers all the features of the mobile browser service with the addition of popmoney, a person-to-person payment service where all you need is a name and email address or mobile number to move money from your bank account to another.

Citizens' Mobile Banking is a secure channel for transacting business with the bank. When using text banking, you view accounts by nicknames you set, not account numbers, and no detailed personal information is sent. When using the mobile browser or app, 128-bit encryption masks your sensitive information; a password is required each time you log on; and your private "picture and passphrase" are displayed during the log-on process to assure all users that they are not on a phished site.

"Virtually any cellphone can use the SMS service, even many prepaid cellphones," Leombuno said. "As long as the phone is capable of sending and receiving SMS text messages (and the service plan supports text messaging), account balances and transaction histories are available. Phones with Internet access and a browser that supports xhtml pages can use Mobile Browser services. It requires no phone-based software."

She continued, "Customers with smartphones (such as the iPhone) have the option of downloading a full-feature application (app) that takes advantage of the enhanced features found in their devices. This downloaded software gives the user account access through APP services. Smartphone users are accustomed to downloading and installing apps so they will simply follow the prompts in the mobile banking enrollment process once logging on to online banking."

Customers must be signed up for online banking to take advantage of the mobile banking services. They may enroll on the bank's website at www.CitizensWV.com.

"We anticipate mobile banking will become a new lifestyle routine for many of our customers," Leombruno added. "Over 5 percent of eligible customers have already enrolled in the product in the first week of our product launch. It's a must-have service for travelers, business executives and busy families to keep track of their finances and pay household bills; eBills is another great feature of the mobile app. We encourage you to go mobile and enroll today."

Anyone who needs assistance in the mobile-banking enrollment process may contact the Electronic Banking Department at 304-636-4095 or visit a personal banker at one of Citizens Bank locations in Elkins, Parsons, Beverly or Snowshoe.

Established in 1924, Citizens Bank of West Virginia offers a range of financial products and services, including trust and investment services. For more information, visit www.CitizensWV.com.
