Alderson-Broaddus College officials said they are working with local law enforcement regarding an off-campus incident that occurred Tuesday.

"It's an ongoing investigation so I'm not allowed to comment (more) on it," Alderson-Broaddus College Director of Marketing and Communications Ashley Mittelmeier said Wednesday.

Mittelmeier said she could not explain what kind of incident took place so as not to jeopardize the pending investigation. She did say the college was not placed on lock down as a result of the incident.

Chief Deputy B.M. Carpenter of the Barbour County Sheriff's Department said the incident was not being investigated by the Sheriff's Department. No Philippi Police Department representative was available for comment Wednesday.
