Stockert Youth Center was the place to be June 29. Nine teams entered a volleyball tournament to help raise more than $1,000 for the West Virginia Children's Hospital in Morgantown. The Davidson team, Sago Spikers II, won the tournament. John Davidson, Jeremy Davidson, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Spotloe, Ken Spotloe and Dave Hamner are the members of the winning team.
Also to raise money at the tournament, grilled hotdogs, homemade brownies, homemade pepperoni rolls, chips and drinks were sold.
Buckhannon Walmart SuperCenter assistant manager Dusty Butcher organized the day's events. Butcher stated that with the interest shown in this tournament, another may be planned for later this summer. Several associates from the Buckhannon Walmart were on hand to play in the tournament, assist with food sales and cheer the teams on. Each year Walmart associates and customers help raise money for Children's Miracle Network. This store is fast approaching its goal of $17,000 with the annual golf tournament still to take place July 14.
