SOUTH CHARLESTON - Rain showers in the Charleston area postponed second-day action of the Little League 11-12-year-old state tournament being held at Little Creek Park.

The weather left the Tygarts Valley All-Star team looking for hotel rooms.

"It's a scramble right now for us," Tygarts Valley manager Greg Smith said. "We'll have to make some calls to try and get some rooms for our team."

Tygarts Valley will play St. Albans today, while Elkins, which defeated Bridgeport, 4-9, on Sunday, will battle Pineville.

Tygarts Valley was set to play St. Albans at 6 p.m. on Monday. That game has now been scheduled for today after the completion of Monday's 4 p.m. games that were halted due to rain. Those games will resume at 4 p.m. today. Tygarts Valley, which lost to South Charleston on Sunday in Pool B action, also is scheduled to face Bi-State on Wednesday.

Elkins, meanwhile, will face Pineville at 8 p.m. today. Elkins is coming off a 4-0 win over Bridgeport on Sunday to take the driver's seat in Pool B play. Matthew Gainer and Beau Bright combined on a no-hitter it that win.

The tournament is now scheduled to shift to a single-elimination format on Thursday after the completion of pool play on Wednesday.

The champions will advance to regional play set to begin in August in Georgia.
