Donald Eugene Knotts, 64, a resident of the Sugarlands Community, Hambleton, departed this life Monday evening, Aug. 26, 2013, at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Saturday, March 19, 1949, at Thomas, a son of the late Junior Ray Knotts and Cornell Elizabeth Gooding Knotts, who survives at the Sugarlands Community. On May 29, 1971, at Thomas, he was married to the former Clarice Lee Bennett, who survives. They had celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Melanie Dawn Lloyd and husband, Glenn "Butch," of Bayard; Karen Elizabeth Hoffert and husband, Rudy, of Fairmont; two brothers, Robert Andrew Knotts and wife, Jeannie, of Stanton, Va.; Timothy Paul Knotts of Sugarlands; two sisters, Elizabeth Rae Evans and husband, "Jack," of Knoxville, Tenn.; Geraldine P. Auvil and husband, Dave, of Haywood; and three granddaughters, Megan, Emily and Abbey.

Preceding him in death is one infant son, Donald Eugene Knotts Jr.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1967, where he was a member of the FFA. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills, the former Parsons Tannery and the Firestone Store. He was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Co. working in quality control, with more than 35 years of service, and he was a beekeeper and a farmer, and was known for his egg delivery route. He was a member of the Hendricks Ruritan Club for several years and a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. He enjoyed flowers, especially morning glories and dahlias.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Philip Dent will officiate and interment will follow at the Sugarlands Cemetery at Sugarlands.
