The Inter-Mountain

Literacy Volunteers of Upshur County will host its semi-annual book sale Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Social Hall (Franklin Street entrance). There will be a wide variety of hardcover and paperback books as well as a large stock of children's books, cookbooks and popular fiction. Literacy Volunteers also will accept donations of new or gently used books for the sale. They will no longer accept encyclopedias, text books or magazines.

For more information, call the Literacy Center at 304-472-2343, email lvaupco@wirefire.net or visit lvaupco.webs.com.

Literacy Volunteers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free tutoring to adults in Upshur and surrounding counties who read or test below a fourth-grade level. The group has a part-time director, and all tutoring is administered by trained volunteers. It is fundraisers like the book sale that allow them to keep the doors open and free to those who need help.
