Judith Ann Phares, 70, of St. Albans, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, in Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.

Born Oct. 22, 1942, in Mill Creek, Judy was a daughter of the late Herbert Pritt and Thelma Long Stokes.

She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Clarence and Laura Pritt and Marion and Mary Martha Long; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Eva Phares.

Judy loved to garden, cook and was the queen of yard sales. We have all been blessed with a treasure from her yard sale excursions or a surprise from her garden or kitchen. Judy was an avid reader who made many lifelong friends through her book exchanges. Judy was a kind soul who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was deeply loved by many and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Robert L. Phares Jr.; son, Michael L. Phares of Beaver Falls, Pa; sister, Brenda Craig (Rick); brother, Spike Stokes (Regina) both of Akron, Ohio; and a host of family and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans with the Rev. Nancy Didway officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Additional services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Beverly United Methodist Church, Beverly. Friends may visit for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mill Creek Cemetery, Mill Creek.
