ELKINS - Shoppers counting down the days left before Christmas are finding that Black Friday deals are not just for Friday anymore. Many area businesses are running specials and deals on Thanksgiving Day and through Small Business Saturday, as well.

Thursday will feature the kickoff of Black Friday savings at both Walmart and K-Mart in Elkins.

Walmart's first round of sale items will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Two more sales rounds will follow, on Thursday starting at 8 p.m. and another Friday morning, beginning at 8. All three of the sales rounds will run while quantities last on items.

"A lot of people come in for the electronics," said Elkins store manager Bob Smith. "Televisions, laptops, newer version phones and iPads are always big sellers."

Smith said the store will offer huge percentages off on several items.

"Some of the deals are so secret that I don't even know them yet," Smith added.

K-Mart will be running door buster sales from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, and again from 7 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday and from 6 a.m. to noon on Friday.

"We will have good pricing on televisions and tablets available at all three sales," said store manager Veto Moots. "This is the stuff that people line up for."

Some downtown Elkins businesses offering Black Friday sales and participating in Small Business Saturday are Hopscotch, Elkins Sewing Center, Third Street Trading Company and Marlea's. These businesses offer a wide array of items from toys and books to clothing and jewelry.

Hopscotch deals run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Deals will include a $40 teddy bear free with any purchase of $200 or more.

Store manager Sherry Hammer said, "We will have free gifts with the purchase of a lot of our toys and items, including Elf on the Shelf."

Elkins Sewing Center will operate at its normal business hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Owner Sue Pifer said, "We will have some special deals that will be available both Black Friday and Small Business Saturday."

The deals will include up to 60 months no-interest financing on sewing machines, free fabric with sewing machine purchases and 20 percent off Christmas and fall fabrics. The center will also be adding a gift card bonus giving customers "bonus bucks" to spend in January and February with every gift card purchased. The bonus bucks will be for 10 percent of the gift card value.

Third Street Trading Company will start running their deals at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Owner Hope Anderson said, "We will be offering a special Pandora bracelet bead that only comes out on Black Friday."

Also, select Vera Bradley handbags, luggage, bedding and accessories will be available at 50 to 75 percent off. A free Vera Bradley tote bag will be added on all Vera Bradley purchases of $100 or more.

Anderson added, "We will be giving out free gifts all day with purchases and have a few surprises in store for Saturday."

Marlea's will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Each of those days will feature 25 percent off all regular priced merchandise store-wide, along with 50 percent off ladies Woolrich turtlenecks and Tribal jeans.
