AB men extend win streak; D&E women earn victory

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Alderson Broaddus University extended its winning streak to 10 games Saturday, defeating Cedarville University Saturday, 80-62, in G-MAC play.

The Battlers' (12-4, 6-0 G-MAC) defense dominated the Yellow Jackets (4-12, 2-2 G-MAC) in the first half, allowing them to connect on only 29 percent of their shot attempts. ABU took a 12-point advantage, 34-22, into the locker room at halftime.

Thylas Perkins had a career day with 23 points and eight rebounds. Senior Adam Kline recorded his 11th double-double of the season. Kline ended the game with 18 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. He ranks in the top 10 nationally in double-doubles.

Sophomore Devin Colston compiled his highest scoring output of the season with 13 points, while Richard Lemon tallied 11 points and 10 boards.

Marcus Reineke paced Cedarville with 13 points. Reineke scored 18 or more points in the last four games, including 21 vs. Kentucky Wesleyan College.

The Battlers will host G-MAC rival Davis & Elkins College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Central State 78

D&E ............. 70, OT

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - Davis &?Elkins dropped a 78-70 overtime decision to Central State University Saturday in G-MAC play.

Devin Miller paced the Senator offense with 21 points and eight rebounds. Aleksandar Vasiljevic (11) points and Juwan Strothers (10) also reached double digits in a losing effort.

For the Marauders, Anthony Adams Rule scored 22 points, Masceo Harmon added 19 points and Tre Edwards contributed 13 points.

With 9 minutes to play in regulation, D&E held a 61-51 advantage. However, seven turnovers allowed the Marauders to tie the game 63-63 at the end of the regulation.

CSU scored 10 unanswered points in overtime to seal the 78-70 victory.

Davis & Elkins will host Bluefield State at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

BUCKHANNON - West Virginia Wesleyan blew past MEC foe Urbana, 91-65, on Saturday to improve to 11-7 on the season.

Four Bobcats reached double digits in scoring. Senior T.J. Thompson paced the Bobcats with 21 points, Taylor Price scored 15 points, Chris Dewberry scored 13 points and Tanner McGrew added 10 points.

The Bobcats will travel to Glenville State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in MEC action.

Women's games

D&E 82, Central State 65

WILBERFORCE, Ohio.- Ashley Bowles scored 22 points to lead Davis & Elkins College to a 82-65 victory over Central State University Saturday in G-MAC play.

Jordan Lykes and Sharmaine Baker both registered double-doubles. Lykes scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Baker added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

D&E held a 36-26 advantage at the half and outscored the Marauders 46-39 in the second half.

Bowles, Lykes and Baker combined to score 65 percent of D&E's total points. Along with scoring, the Senators held Central St. to 28-87 from the field, only allowing 13.6 percent three point shooting. The Senators shot nearly 50 percent from the field.

Iniquia Snell paced CSU in scoring with 17 points. Demetria Lash added 14 points.

The Senators will host West Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. today.

Cedarville 78, AB 56

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Kayla Jenerette hit for 18 points Saturday to lift Cedarville University over Alderson Broaddus, 78-56, Saturday in G-MAC action.

The Yellow Jackets (7-8, 3-2 G-MAC) amassed 42 first half points to take a 42-24 advantage at halftime.

Nautica Davis led the Battlers in scoring with 12 points. Rachel Ashley chipped in five points and added a team-high seven rebounds.

For the Yellow Jackets, Deborah Gordon scored 12 points and Kaysie Brittenham had 10 points.

ABU (2-13, 2-5 G-MAC) will entertain G-MAC rival Davis & Elkins College at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

Urbana 71, Wesleyan 68

BUCKHANNON - DeVonyea Johnson hit for 26 points Saturday as Urbana slipped past MEC foe Wesleyan ,71-68, at the Rockefeller Center.

Guard Allie Browne paced the Bobcats with 18 points.

The Bobcats will travel to Glenville State at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for another league game.
