Just think, the first month of this new year is almost gone!
Cold weather, business closings, and snow days have been the topic of conversation lately. Not only in Barbour County, but all over the region. I checked the school closings website on Wednesday of this week, and every single county in the state was closed.
Best wishes to Dr. Joseph Super, whose contract as superintendent of schools was extended for another year in Barbour County.
Congratulations to Philippi Police Chief Jeff Walters, who was inducted as a member of the International Chiefs of Police

The Harlem Superstars will be coming to Barbour County on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. They will be playing against the Barbour County Dream Team, which consists of various teachers and coaches throughout the county. This all takes place at Philip Barbour High School and is a fundraiser for the junior class. Tickets are $10 at the door. Advance tickets are $8 and can be purchased at both locations of Mace's Pharmacy, Freedom Bank in Philippi, Barbour County Bank, and the BP Station in Junior. This is a time of great fun for the whole family.

Congratulations to the Philip Barbour Colt Wrestling team, who traveled to Braxton County to compete in the Braxton Invitational Wrestling Tournament. They finished 11th out of 17 teams, with four Colts members placing.
I guess the next big thing coming up is the Super Bowl. Whether you are having a big party, a quiet time at home, or you just really don't care, I hope that you have a good time.
