ELKINS - Looking to establish a new annual tradition, Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center has presented specialty awards to more than 100 of its employees in recognition of their dedication to service and care at the facility.
The employee recognition initiative, designed by ERCC management and supported by the ERCC Board of Directors, serves to acknowledge the level of appreciation felt for employees at ERCC who are devoted to carrying out the mission of "complete compassionate care" on a daily basis.
"In the planning stages, discussions were held for ways to revitalize the recognition program for our employees," said ERCC Administrator Denise Campbell. "The hard work of our employees is what keeps this facility functioning, and we wanted to do something on an annual basis to express our appreciation and gratitude for their dedication and service."
Roxanna Cooper of ERCC presents Janet Stalnaker with a recognition plaque for 36 years of service at ERCC.
Ruth Mitchell presents Johnny Bodkin with his recognition plaque and pin for his 31 years of service at ERCC.
Cindy Lanham presents Barbara Bender with her recognition plaque for 34 years of service at ERCC.
While the ERCC Administration has always strived to recognize employee dedication and service in many ways over the years, the Employee Recognition Appreciation Awards was established as a special, annual event by which this can be done.
Employees were recognized by the years of service that they have provided to the residents and community at ERCC. Since this was the inaugural year, all employees with one or more years of service were recognized. From there, individuals were honored on a five-year milestone system with custom-designed awards. All employees recognized received a certificate and a distinctive lapel pin unique to ERCC. Those with 30 or more years at ERCC received a special, handcrafted, wooden plaque and every 5-year milestone recipient received an incremental monetary gift.
"At many places a 'thanks' might be all you receive for your hard work and dedication. We want our employees to know that it is different at ERCC that they are a valuable part of who we are and what we do," said Campbell.
Employees awarded for 20 or more years of service: Beulah Jean Ramsey (20), Doris Knotts (20), Julia Phillips (21), Delores Louk (21), April Shrader (22) and Carolyn Bonner (24).
Employees awarded for 30 or more years of service: Timothy McCauley (31), Barbara Bender (34), Janet Stalnaker (36), and Johnny Bodkin (44).
Many members of the Board of Directors were able to attend the event. According the Elkins-Randolph Chamber of Commerce, ERCC is one of the top 10 employers in Randolph County.
