Bargains will fill the sidewalks of downtown Elkins July 12 during the third annual Downtown Yard Sale sponsored by Elkins ON TRAC.
Downtown businesses and property owners are invited to place tables with sale items on the sidewalks in front of their buildings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A limited amount of space is also available for local residents to participate in the Yard Sale.
The Yard Sale has become a friendly summertime tradition in downtown Elkins.
"People have been asking about this event since the weather turned warm." said ON TRAC Executive Director Karen Carper. "The yard sale creates a downtown neighborhood atmosphere where people can enjoy shopping and visiting together."
The Yard Sale is not limited to store merchandise from businesses but may also include furniture, clothing and other items. Business and property owners are welcome to bring items from home for the Yard Sale, Carper said.
The event is free for all downtown businesses and property owners. Employees and tenants may also participate at no charge.
Members of the Friends of Elkins ON TRAC are also invited to participate free of charge, but must register to reserve space.
Nonmember residents living in or near Elkins must register in advance and pay a $10 fee for each 10 x 10 foot space. Spaces will be designated and pre-assigned to registrants on a first-come-first-served basis. Local organizations are also welcome. Participants must provide their own tables and chairs. Food items, other than those provided by downtown restaurants, are not permitted. Electricity is not available.
The fees collected will support ON TRAC's programs and activities in downtown Elkins.
Registration forms are available at the Fashion Closet, 11 Davis Ave., or at Hopscotch, 117 Third St. Registration and payment to Elkins ON TRAC must be received by July 7.
