Bridgeport tames Lady Tigers
ELKINS — Taylor Maynard set the pace for the Lady Tigers with 15 points Thursday, but Big 10 rival Bridgeport still managed to pull off a 54-40 victory over Elkins.
“We competed against a very well-coached Bridgeport team,” EHS coach Matt Davis said. “Our defense kept us in the game. Bridgeport did a good job making foul shots down the stretch.”
Along with her 15 points, Maynard also recorded 3 rebounds and a blocked shot. Junior Taylor Phillips notched 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals, while senior Lauren Silvester chipped in 7 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Other top Tigers included: Susan Riggleman, 5 points and 5 rebounds; Haley Smith, 2 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist; and Madison Holland, 2 points and 1 steal.
Emily Riggs led the Lady Indians with 15 points, while Kaitlin Smith was just off the pace with 14 points. Julie Haynes, Paige Humble, Rory Marple and Madison Wilson contributed 5 points each for BHS.
Elkins (7-12) is scheduled to host Lincoln on Tuesday. Junior varsity action tips off at 6 p.m. and the varsity contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
