Lady Bulldogs edged at home

MILL CREEK — A close game didn’t go their way Saturday night as the Tygarts Valley Lady Bulldogs lost to Doddridge County High School, 60-52.

“It was really an exciting game; it was close throughout,” TVHS coach Nancy Lewis said, noting TVHS had the lead several times, but ended up with players getting into foul trouble. Some starters fouled out in the last minute and a half of the game.

“Without those starters on the floor to finish the game, we had trouble scoring,” she said.

The coach added it was Senior Night, and the team recognized seniors Kaleah Pritt and Kelsey Armstrong.

Abby Harris had 25 points for the Lady Bulldogs, while also racking up 5 steals and 3 assists.

Courtney Haddix added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Emily Ball scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for TVHS, while Tatum Wamsley pitched in with 4 points and 7 rebounds.

Pritt and Kailey Halterman each chipped in with 2 points.

For Doddridge County, which also features a bulldogs mascot, the top scorers included Gracie James with 15 points, and Cameron Smith and Jonna Ferrell with 13 points each.

The Tygarts Valley Lady Bulldogs (8-12) will take to the road Wednesday to play Clay-Battelle High School at 7 p.m.
