Bike Team takes first-place title

On Oct. 7, the Highlands Composite mountain bike team, consisting of Randolph and Tucker County athletes, competed in the second race of the season.

The team took their second first-place team title, topping Morgantown and Parkersburg. All the athletes had a strong showing at the race.

In the sixth-grade boy’s division, Quincy Miller finished fourth, Cooper Ruud finished fifth and Mason Powell finished 10th. Adelaide McCann took fourth spot in the sixth-grade girl’s division.

In the seventh-grade boy’s division, Ashton White took first place and Daniel Dodds finished second.

In the freshman girl’s division, Isabelle Judy took first, while Natalie Sutton finished second.

In the sophomore girl’s division, Addie Berdine took first while Jasper Clark finished 10th in the sophomore boy’s category.

In the JV girl’s division, Isabella White took first, while Eli Ballantyne finished third and Nick Putnam took sixth in the JV boy’s division.

In the Varsity boy’s division, Ben Gongola finished in first place.

Overall points leaders for the race season include Ben Gongola leading the varsity boy’s division, Addie Berdine leading the sophomore girl’s division, Isabelle Judy leading the freshman girl’s division and Ashton White leading the seventh-grade boy’s division.
