Senators hold on for 80-75 win over Glenville State

ELKINS — The Davis & Elkins College men’s basketball team picked up a big victory over Glenville State Monday afternoon, holding on for an 80-75 victory in non-conference play at the McDonnell Center.

The Senators opened up a double-digit lead early in the second half and another seven-point lead, but the visitors rallied back multiple times.

However, after Glenville tied the game at 64, the Senators pulled away and held on for the victory.

Trevor English led the way for the Senators. After 10 points in the first half, English added 15 second-half points to lead all scorers in the game. English also had five rebounds and a block.

Edmund Parker and Patrick Wilburn each contributed with double-doubles to help the Senators to victory. Parker finished with 16 points and led the Senators with 13 rebounds.

Parker also had two steals and two assists.

Wilburn finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the game. Wilburn also had two assists and a steal.

Erkam Kiris led the Senators with four assists off the bench while also going a perfect 3-for-3 from the field with six points.

Marcus Friend led the Senators with five steals in the game. Friend also had nine points, two rebounds and two assists.

The Senators will be off for the remainder of 2018, returning to action on January 3 against Findlay. The Senators will host the Oilers at the McDonnell Center with a tip set for 5:30 p.m.
