Roberts hits for 23 points as Pendleton bests Harman

Wildcats set to face Tucker for sectional crown

FRANKLIN – Draven Roberts fired in 23 points as top-seed Pendleton County earned a spot in the Class A, Region II, Section 2 title game with a 70-40 win over Harman on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats are now 15-6 on the season and winners of eight straight games. They will face No. 2-seed Tucker County at 7 p.m. Friday at Petersburg High School.

Pendleton County took both regular-season meetings between the teams, including rallying in the fourth quarter for 62-51 win last Thursday at home.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 27-9 lead after the first quarter against the Panthers and led 40-21 at halftime.

Timmy Thorne added 16 points for the winners.

Harman was led by Braydan Huffman, who finished with 18 points and canned 12 of 13 of his free-throw attempts on the night.

The Panthers ended the season 10-12 without any seniors on the roster.

“We just couldn’t buy a basket tonight,” Harman coach Darrell Barnett said. “We had open shots but I think we were just too pumped up.

“I’m proud of the effort and respect these guys have displayed all year.”
