Bees rally by PB
FAIRMONT — Philip Barbour came up on the short end of a 6-3 verdict at East Fairmont Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.
The Colts grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first before East poked in the next six runs of the contest to get the win atop home soil.
Cole Peschl was the winning pitcher after six innings on the bump. He gave up one earned run on five hits, fanned eight and walked three.
Will Knight went five innings on the hill to shoulder the loss for PB. He was charged with four earned runs on eight hits, struck out six and issued a pair of free passes.
Austyn Fletcher tossed an inning of relief for the visitors, allowing two earned runs and two hits. He recorded a strikeout in the effort.
Tanner Corder cracked a lead-off double in the first inning before Trent Tallman drew a walk. Corder eventually advanced to third and then scored on a passed ball.
Alex Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to the outfield that allowed Tallman to tag up at third before sprinting back to the dish for another Colts’ run.
Chase Collier and Gage Bibey both went 2 of 4 at the plate. Collier hit a 2 out double in the top of the seventh to spark a rally opportunity for the Colts.
Bibey doubled to score Collier before the Bees closed things out in the Big 10 Conference affair.
Philip Barbour slipped to 14-5.
East Fairmont improved to 14-7-1.
The Colts are slated for a home game at 5 p.m. today, hosting sectional foe Keyser team.
