Golfers qualify for 100th state amateur
WHEELING — Wheeling Country Club hosted the second of seven statewide qualifiers Sunday for the 100th West Virginia Amateur Championship Presented by Mercedes-Benz. Sixteen players took to the par 70 layout in hopes of capturing one of five qualifying spots.
Bryan Myers and Rico Simonetti, both of Wheeling, fired matching two under par 68s to claim their spot in the West Virginia Amateur. Myers and Simonetti made six and five birdies, respectively, en route to their two under par scores.
Other qualifiers included Jacob Nickell, Noah Sievertson and Joe Blalock, all of Wheeling.
