D&E booters unveil 2019 schedule

Senators will host 2018 NCAA Tournament squad Notre Dame College in Mountain East opener

ELKINS — Davis & Elkins men’s soccer head coach Matt Ellinger has announced the 2019 schedule, featuring nine regular-season home games at Nuttall Field and eight away contests.

Six of those nine home matchups will be night games for the Senators, who begin their first season as a member of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) in 2019.

D&E will see some of the best the MEC has to offer early, facing NCAA Tournament qualifiers Notre Dame (Ohio) (Sept. 12) and Charleston (Sept. 18) at home in two of the first three games.

The Senators will play their lone non-conference matchup of the 2019 campaign against Salem University on Homecoming weekend on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.

D&E follows it up with two out of its next three games against new MEC member Frostburg State on Sept. 25 and Oct. 5.

The Senators will finish up a brief homestand against Wheeling on Oct. 9 before hitting the road for three consecutive conference contests against Urbana (Oct. 12), Notre Dame (Ohio) (Oct. 17) and West Liberty (Oct. 20).

Returning for a pair of home matchups, D&E faces Concord (Oct. 23) and Urbana (Oct. 27) in front of hitting the road for consecutive games against the teams that made up the 2018 MEC Championship game in Charleston and Wheeling.

The Senators wrap up the regular season at home against West Liberty on Nov. 6 and against West Virginia Wesleyan on Nov. 10.

The MEC Tournament begins on Nov. 14.

D&E went 5-9-2 in 2018, missing out on the G-MAC Tournament in its final season in the league.
