D&E spikers split matches

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Davis & Elkins College volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Vulcan Invitational on Friday.

The Lady Senators dropped a 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 20-25, 23-25) decision to host California (Pa.) in their opening match.

Kaitlyn LaCour led D&E with 17 kills and 20 digs, while Sarah Warren had 43 assists.

The Lady Senators bounced back by picking up a 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 16-25, 25-23, 16-14) victory over Indiana (Pa.) in their second match of the afternoon.

LaCour once again led the way with her first career match with 20 or more kills, Warren tallied 45 assists and five players — Kelly Smith, Cynthia Arango, Warren, LaCour and Mya Mintchenko — had at least 12 digs.

D&E (2-3) concludes Vulcan Invitational play today with matches against Lake Erie at 10 a.m and Daemen at 1 p.m.
