BRIDGEPORT – The Elkins High School girls soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Class AA-A, No. 2 Bridgeport Tuesday night in Big 10 Conference play.

It was the first game for the Lady Tigers since losing all-stater and leading scorer Sofia Triplett to a potential season-ending injury last week at Lewis County.

“I was proud of the effort the girls gave,” EHS coach Scott Cutright said. “They did everything we asked of them tonight, but Bridgeport is a very good team and finished on their (scoring) opportunities.

“We just need to regroup and try to get better in our last two regular-season games, and then the postseason.”

The Lady Indians led 2-0 at the intermission and tacked on a pair of goals in the second half.

Bridgeport held a 13-3 advantage on shots on goal. Taylor Oldaker had nine saves in goal for the Lady Tigers.

Elkins will host Philip Barbour at 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday for senior night.

The Lady Tigers will then conclude the regular season at Buckhannon-Upshur on Oct. 17.
