TVMS falls at Pocahontas

DUNMORE — Pocahontas County improved to 3-2 on the season with a 26-16 win over Tygarts Valley Friday in middle school football action.

The Warriors held a slim 7-0 lead at the half before the Bulldogs took the lead in the third quarter when Carter Patterson returned the second-half kickoff 80 yards to paydirt. Seth Currence ran in the two-point conversion to make it 8-7.

Early in the fourth quarter, Pocahontas County reclaimed the lead and went up by a pair of scores before Patterson capped off the scoring in the contest with a 55-yard touchdown run.

Currence ran in the point after to make it 26-16.

Patterson finished with 105 yards rushing and a 185 all-purpose yards to lead the Bulldogs’ offense.

Currence followed with 56 yards on the ground and had two receptions for 22 yards.

Currence and Brayden Arbogast had six tackles each to lead Tygarts Valley’s defense.

The Bulldogs will entertain Barbour County next Wednesday for their next contest.
