Battler gridders earn first win of season
PHILIPPI – The Alderson Broaddus football team picked up its their first win of the season with a 24-17 victory over Walsh (Ohio) on Saturday.
Nicolas Bishop’s 3-yard run with 6:43 left in regulation broke a 17-17 tie.
Bishop, who had 128 yards rushing, also had TD runs of 3 and 7 in the game, while Austin Hampton drilled a 38-yard field goal.
Joe Czelusniak finished with 239 yards passing in his final home game for the Battlers (1-8, 1-5 G-MAC), who will conclude the regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kentucky Wesleyan.
Dominic Pegley had seven catches for 110 yards and Matt Jackson led the defense with 10 tackles.
