Battlers fall to Le Moyne at Classic
Dolphins place six players in double figures
ERIE, Pa. — Le Moyne placed six players in double figures in defeating Alderson Broaddus, 100-87, in the consolation game of the Gary Miller Classic Saturday at Gannon University’s Hammermill Center.
Nino Hernadez led the Dolphins (4-4) with 25 points. Oshea Gairey added 20, Tim Leavell 17, Malik Garner 13 and Ryan Roland and Tom Brown 12 apiece.
Brown also grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double for Le Moyne, which trailed 45-43 at the half.
Troy Cantrell, who was named to the all-tourney team, led the Battlers (1-6) with 24 points 12 rebounds and eight assists, followed by Colton Huestis with 18 points off the bench. David Shriver netted 15 points and K.J. Walker tallied 12.
Cantrell also had a double-double in a setback to Gannon in Friday’s first game of the Classic.
The Battlers scored the game’s first eight points en route to leading by two at the intermission.
But Le Moyne went on an 11-0 run to start the second half and never trailed again.
Ashland, ranked 11th in the nation, won the event with an 81-76 victory over Gannon.
AB will return home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to face Hillsdale in the G-MAC opener.
